Linear Acoustic, a specialist in audio processing technology based in Lancaster, PN, has merged with the Telos Group, a Cleveland, OH-based based broadcast audio company that offers products under the Axia, Omnia and Telos brands. No financial terms were announced.
Linear Acoustic develops products for the distributing and processing of multichannel television sound. At NAB2007, it showed devices to enhance dynamic range control of broadcast sound and technology to ensure correct implementation of consumer metadata.
Telos Systems was founded in 1985 by Steve Church, a former talk show host and radio group engineer. Church designed the first digital telephone interface system for radio talk shows. At the same time, Frank Foti, former station chief at WHTZ-FM in New York, was building audio processors for radio stations. His products developed into the Omnia line of DSP-based audio processors. Church and Foti merged in 1992, becoming a major provider of audio equipment to broadcasters.
