Lower plasma TV prices propels set sales to record in Q4 2004, says report

At the end of 2004, sales of plasma TVs experienced 137 percent growth over similar sales in the third quarter due in large part to the price of some units dropping below $2500.

According to the Plasma TV Market Review from Quixel Research, as prices became more affordable during the fourth quarter, a significant number of consumers were ready to take new plasma TVs home for the holidays. The 2004 total-year plasma TV market nearly doubled its unit sales over total 2003. The 42in plasma reigned supreme in 2004 with more than 50 percent growth in Q4 alone.

Quixel Research forecasts that the plasma TV market will realize exponential growth, generating revenues of more than $7 billion, and more than 3.5 million units sold in 2008.
