LSI Logic and Micronas collaborate on ATSC reference design
LSI Logic and Micronas have collaborated on a reference design that provides all of the functionality for a flat-panel integrated digital TV set and enables it to receive of-air ATSC signals.
The companies said the new TV set design was based on LSI's DoMiNo DMN-8833 ATSC decoder processor, and Micronas's DRX-H ATSC/QAM demodulator and VCT-P all-in-one flat-panel TV processor.
Together with the LSI IDTV ATSC software stack, the companies said the solution enabled a speedy upgrade for existing VCT-P customers and gave TV set makers “a stable, proven platform” to quickly and cost effectively get to market with a range of ATSC-compatible DTVs.
The design encompasses processing, decoding and displaying ATSC broadcast content; processing and displaying analog, digital, HD and SD signal sources; improving video quality with advanced signal processing algorithms; and decoding surround-sound audio.
