LSI Logic, NVIDIA, and Ulead to team on content creation
Post-production and kiosk advertising are just two areas targeted by a new partnership formed by LSI Logic, NVIDIA and Ulead aimed at providing well-rounded, easily accessible tools for creating HD content on PC workstations.
The HDTVxpress Compressor from LSI Logic (top) and NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics solution set are two elements in a partnership designed to bring a complete solution that will enable creators to capture, edit, preview and prepare for distribution or store HD content in real time in a PC workstation. Ulead’s MediaStudio Pro 7 graphical editing solution rounds out the offering.
Between LSI Logic’s processor board, NVIDIA’s graphics software and Ulead’s editing and authoring tools, the three companies will provide a complete solution that will enable creators to capture, edit, preview and prepare for distribution or store HD content in real time in a single PC workstation.
The partnership was announced during the last day of the NAB show in Las Vegas.
The foundation for this partnership rests with the LSI Logic’s HDTVxpress compressor PCI board and software development kit (SDK), NVIDIA's Quadro FX professional graphics solutions and nvDVD software and Ulead’s MediaStudio Pro 7 HD plug-in. The process begins with HDTVxpress as content gets compressed from 1.5Gb/s down to 8Mb/s. The board supports multiple frame rates and resolutions including the 1080p/24fps film format, a variable bit-rate process, and frame-accurate start/stop control that enable real-time, high-quality compression for archiving and distribution. The accompanying SDK is Windows-based. From there, NVIDIA supplies the graphics pipelines with a 128-bit capability with millions of colors in a broad dynamic range. The Quadro FX supports Microsoft, OpenGL and a myriad of shading languages. Ulead’s MediaStudio Pro 7 rounds out the offering by enabling the actual capture and editing of sophisticated HD content compressed and displayed by LSI Logic and NVIDIA. MediaStudio Pro 7 has the capacity to provide all aspects of content manipulation in modules. Thus, functions such as video capture, editing, audio editing, video painting, CG graphics and DVD/CD authoring can be taken and developed in individual modules.
