Media Links has secured a major contract for its new MD8000 Media Transport System for the Next Generation IP contribution Network (Broadcast NGN) currently being built in Germany by Media Broadcast.
The network will eventually connect over 80 sites across the country and will be used for Bundesliga football coverage as well as other domestic programming. Broadcast NGN customers will receive a standardised, open IP platform with various service level agreements (SLAs) and service classes. Customer's VPNs can also be integrated and managed by the customers themselves.
Media Links has supplied video transport edge equipment including the HD-GigE, HD compression codec and IP video gateway and the MD-003 GETR, 4-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch. It has also supplied its MD8000 IP-based multiservice switching and transport platform. The technology has been supplied – via Media Links' regional partner VIDI – in conjunction with Alcatel-Lucent 7750 series IP routers as part of the joint arrangement.
