Major League Baseball Connects with Ross OverDrive

Ross Video announced that MLB Advanced Media has recently invested in the OverDrive Production Control System, Synergy 4SD and Synergy 100SD Digital Production Switchers. MLB is reconfiguring their studios to be more efficient and introduce their new Video and Audio services on MLB.com.

“We were looking for the latest technology that could deliver a dynamic production at an effective price point,” said Joe Inzerillo, Senior Vice President Multi Media, MLB Advanced Media. “At MLB we want to be as efficient as possible to create more content faster. Ross’ OverDrive and Synergy products will allow us to achieve our goal.”

MLB Advanced Media manages and creates content for the 30 major league baseball teams on MLB.com. The organization has a total of 3 studios with 2 devoted to TV and 1 for Radio. OverDrive allows MLB to be efficient by automating production. The system makes it simple to operate peripheral devices by the touch of a screen. The integration with the Synergy family of switchers also offers MLB an easy upgrade path to HD.

“MLB Advanced Media is an excellent example of an organization using technology to their advantage to create superior content,” said Jeff Moore, Vice President Marketing and Sales, Ross Video. “MLB will be well equipped for their current and future production needs.”

The key to OverDrive is the effective integration to the Ross Synergy Series of production switchers. The interfaces to audio mixers, video servers, robotic cameras and other third party peripherals are connected through Synergy, enabling an integrated production system. The Synergy production switcher has direct control over these devices at all times, allowing for manual control even during semi or fully automated productions. Through OverDrive, productions can be created more efficiently and consistently with less staff.
