Marriott promotes tech-loaded HD rooms

Marriott Hotels & Resorts is doing its part to reduce the confusion consumers have about HDTV with the launch last week of an advertising campaign to promote its new guest room technology.

The company is running three 15-second spots on ESPN, CNN, Fox and the Discovery Channel showcasing its new, tech-loaded rooms with LCD HDTVs and plug-in panels to allow guests to access a variety of technology, including connecting their laptops to the HDTV while surfing the Web, playing a DVD or video game.

The company expects to have up to 25 percent of its connectivity panels installed in guest rooms in the United States and Canada by the end of this year and to have the installation completed in all of its U.S. and Canadian guest rooms by the end of 2009.
