Martin to appoint Poarch as Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau chief

published FCC chairman Kevin Martin announced Feb. 23 that he will appoint Derek Poarch, a North Carolina police chief, as the FCC's Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau chief.
Poarch, a native of Lenoir, NC, is the director of public safety and chief of police at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In his new role, Poarch will oversee the bureau responsible for FCC activities related to public safety, homeland security, emergency management and disaster preparedness.
