Maryland Public TV Goes Fujinon for HDTV
Maryland Public Television has purchased a six-pack of Fujinon lenses for high definition television production. The package includes four studio and two hand-lenses.
The purchase includes four Fujinon HA26x6.7BESM HD studio lenses, a HA13x4.5BERD Wide Angle HD ENG-style lens and a HA22x7.8BERD HD Telephoto ENG-style lens. The studio lenses are for use with three Sony HDC-900 and one Sony HDC-950 HD cameras, and the field lenses are mounted on two Sony HDC-750 HD cameras.
George Beneman, managing director of operations at MPT, said that the HA26x6.7 studio lens captures “a great picture” and is ideal for medium-sized studios, “not too much glass, so I can mount prompters on the front.” MPT now own a total of eight studio lenses and a dozen EFP lenses, all from Fujinon.
Currently, the MPT rebroadcasts the PBS high-definition feed, and will start broadcasting its own HD signal with original programming early in 2003.
