MBC Brings Media History Into Digital Age
The Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago announced plans for more public access to its collection of 85,000 hours of radio and TV programming.
It says the MBC Media Café will be a resource for researchers and casual visitors, as well as the centerpiece of the new 70,000-square-foot museum being built downtown.
Its media collection will be organized into eight genres: Comedy, Drama, Music-Variety, Games-Reality, Children, Talk, News and Sports. The Café also will connect to the museum's holdings of documentaries and commercials with offerings updated as new digital content is added.
On the same floor as the Media Café, the A.C. Nielsen Jr. Research Center will provide access to material in non-digital formats.
