McGraw-Hill Broadcasting Group, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, has completed installation of ParkerVision’s PVTV News production systems for live local news production within all four of its ABC affiliates.

ParkerVision’s PVTV News CR4000 system, designed specifically for live automated news production, was first installed KMGH-TV in Denver. McGraw-Hill’s WRTV-TV in Indianapolis; KGTV-TV in San Diego; KMGH-TV in Denver, and KERO-TV in Bakersfield, Calif., soon follow suit and are all online and producing all of their newscasts with both the CR4000 and ParkerVision’s CR3000 and series system.
Ed Quinn, president, McGraw-Hill Broadcasting Group, said the stations took various approaches to implementing the PVTV News system. Indianapolis, Bakersfield, and Denver began slowly automating their live news production during morning and afternoon newscasts and transitioned to primetime newscasts, demonstrating the ability to slowly implement PVTV NEWS, while San Diego took an “all-or-nothing” approach.

Tom McGowan, ParkerVision’s vice president of Sales and Marketing, said McGraw-Hill’s ABC-affiliated stations are producing 100 percent of their locally generated content with the PVTV News system. He added that with the addition of KERO, in Bakersfield, all local news in the Bakersfield market is produced using PVTV systems. KGET/NBC and KBAK/CBS have been successfully producing all of their live newscasts in Bakersfield since 2000.
