Media 100 Inc. has begun a strategic initiative to adopt and implement Avid Technology's OMF and the open, industry-standard AAF media interchange formats.
The implementation of the de facto industry standards will occur in stages. This week marked the first step, where the 844/X editing system and the Media 100i digital video system implemented OMF. Editors using Media 100i, Avid Media Composer and Apple Final Cut Pro will be able to share program-level information with 844/X for unlimited-layer compositing and 10-bit uncompressed finishing.
OMF compatibility in 844/X is provided through the new Version 1.5 interoperability release. OMF import from Media 100i is supported through a new OMF software utility.
