Media Bureau denies requests for deadline extension for comments

The FCC Media Bureau Oct. 12 denied requests from Diversity and Competition Supporters (DCS) and the NAB for an extension of the deadline for comments on proposals from DCS and the Advisory Committee on Diversity of Communications intended to promote minority and female media ownership as part of a Second Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.

Comments were due Oct. 1, and reply comments were due Oct. 16. On Oct. 5, DCS filed a motion to extend the deadline until Nov. 21. Eight days later, the NAB filed its own motion in support of DCS.

In denying the extension, the Media Bureau noted it believed adequate time had been granted initially and that extending the deadline further was not in the public interest.
