Media City Sound has announced the completion of a project to prepare an audio mix for the History Channel’s New series, “Dogfights of the Future.”
The series is produced by Digital Ranch and explores the future of aerial combat, with emphasis on the role played by the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft. The production draws on computer animation and interviews with military experts in exploring future aerial combat operations.
“Sound design is very much like cooking, except that the recipe is being written as you go along,” said Will Chan of Media City Sound. “In creating the sound design for ‘Dogfights of the Future’ as a foundation, we rely on the sounds of modern aircraft we know today. We then add a few dashes of the fantastic, without going so far as the psychedelic sounds one would find in sci-fi films of the ‘50s and the ‘60s. When all the elements are combined, our ultimate goal is to have created something new, but still rooted in our reality.”
Media City Sound is based in Studio City, Calif., and features four studios, along with four edit bays and voice-over facilities. The operation is involved in posting shows for ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, MTV, A&E, The History Channel and others.
