Mediornet unveils X-Switch optical network
X-Switch employs intelligent nodes linked via optical fiber.
Mediornet's new X-Switch routing and optical distribution system integrates video, audio, data and control signals into a single network with a wide range of applications in broadcasting, film and multimedia.
X-Switch employs intelligent nodes linked via optical fiber. All signals are transported transparently with freedom from timing instability and with much lower latency than normally experienced in Ethernet/IP-based networks.
X-Switch is based on a range of modules that can be combined in single base unit made up of a 3RU-high 19in chassis accommodating a central switching card. The chassis also houses main and reserve power supplies and has slots for 16 additional cards.
Breakout modules include video, audio and data interface cards and an optical link card that distributes signals within the network. Supported standards include 1080i and 720p SD-HDI, 270Mb/s PAL/NTSC SDI, AES-3 digital audio, line-level and microphone-level analog audio, MIDI, GPI, RS-232 and RS-485.
