Microsoft acquires European mobile advertising firm
Microsoft this month announced its acquisition of ScreenTonic, a Paris-based company that sells technology that enables advertisers to post and manage ads on the mobile Internet. The technology giant is looking to enhance its Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions division, which offers products and services helping advertisers target consumers through such digital platforms as PCs, the company’s Xbox video game systems and mobile phones.
Microsoft sees mobile advertising as an area with major potential for growth because the medium’s portability allows advertisers to reach consumers all the time.
The acquisition will also help Microsoft gain more entry into the lucrative European mobile operator community. ScreenTonic has relationships with some of the largest mobile operators in Belgium, France and the UK.
Neither Microsoft nor ScreenTonic has disclosed financial details of the acquisition.
