Detroit, MI-based editing and post-production facility Milagro Post has taken delivery of a Thomson Grass Valley Spirit 2K DataCine system.
The facility is using the digital imaging system to post-produce a variety of commercials shot on 375mm film, whereby the Spirit is used to scan the film into the system for color correction, compositing and other visual effects work, using a Grass Valley Bones digital intermediate post-production software system. The Bones software suite allows Milagro to control the Spirit 2K directly.
The Spirit 2K allows real-time scanning of film material at 2K resolutions, enabling Milagro Post to create a 2K digital universal master. That universal master can then be used to create any deliverable from cinema release to DVD.
