SureWest Communications is deploying Minerva Networks' iTVManager video services management software to offer interactive television services to its subscribers in California.
Minerva’s iTVManager software allows network operators to offer their broadband subscribers access to live television, video-on-demand and pay-per-view services.
SureWest Communications, through its subsidiary SureWest Broadband, provides a bundle consisting of digital television, high-speed data and telephone services to homes served by the SureWest fiber network in the Sacramento, Calif. metropolitan area.
SureWest began offering the bundled services as a result of a mid-2002 acquisition. The services, available to 45,000 homes, include up to 250 channels of digital television, video-on-demand (VOD) and pay-per-view, high-speed Internet access and both local and long distance phone services.
Minerva’s iTVManager is an IP television middleware platform. It performs all of the operations necessary to manage the delivery of advanced television services over IP networks. The software allows network operators to offer their broadband subscribers access to live television, video-on-demand and pay-per-view services.
