Minnetonka’s SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II enables surround iTunes release
Lakeshore Records used Minnetonka Audio Software’s SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II software to become the first label to release an iTunes recording encoded with Pro Logic II technology. Just recently released, the movie soundtrack to “Pathology,” an iTunes exclusive and MGM release, is a score album composed by Robert Williamson and Johannes Kobilke and mixed by Wolfgang “Amadeus” Aichholz.
"SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II software has given Lakeshore Records the ability to enhance the consumer experience of motion picture score recordings by providing a viable surround-sound delivery method within digitally distributed stereo sound recordings via outlets such as iTunes and Amazon MP3. This is a truly wonderful thing for both the composer…and for the consumer,” said Brian McNelis, senior VP for music and soundtracks with Lakeshore Entertainment. Lakeshore Records has produced soundtrack albums for most major studios and is the independent recorded music division of Lakeshore Entertainment, the film production company.
The SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II software matrix encoder allows broadcasters and other audio professionals to encode surround-sound mixes into stereo sound files. Pro Logic II-encoded files are completely stereo compatible and can be decoded by virtually every current Dolby Digital home theater system. SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II is a fully licensed software-only version of the Dolby Pro Logic II encoder.
