Mitsubishi Ships LCDs with Vudu HD Access
Mitsubishi has begun shipment of a new line of 1080p LCD sets that come integrated with ready access to Vudu's library of about 2,200 HD and 14,000 SD titles of movie, television and concert content — including 1080p streaming.
The set maker's series of Diamond-branded models of Unisen Immersive Sound LCD HD sets is designed to give set owners "seamless delivery" of the content cache from Vudu without external set-top boxes or additional cables. Vudu said its titles will be fully accessible to users with 1080p (equal to Blu-ray) video, as well as built-in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
Two Diamond Unisen units (models LT-46249, LT-52249) provide Ethernet ports as standard equipment to allow direct online connections. An optional Vudu wireless accessory bridge allows linkage of either of the two models to a wireless home network.
Vudu's service will be expanded in October to provide additional content (mostly not HD) for the Diamond Unisen sets for an array of Internet video options such as Flickr and YouTube — along with Vudu's "On Demand" tier of about 80 channels and venues.
