MLB.TV gets faster for new season
Ensequence, an interactive video company, has partnered with Major League Baseball's MLB.com to launch the 2007 version of MLB.TV Mosaic, an online site that allows fans to watch multiple games simultaneously.
Last baseball season, the companies launched the initial version of the MLB.TV Mosaic, the first Web site to enable fans to watch six games simultaneously.
The new MLB.TV Mosaic has video quality two times better than previously available on broadband (with video speeds up to 700kb/s), and offers combinations of six, four, three or two games for simultaneous viewing (with video speeds up to 1.5MB/s). Games can also be watched in full-screen mode. The system also provides instantaneous audio switching between games.
The new system allows the user to drag and drop selected games into the video mosaic, then further customize the experience by selecting the video mosaic format in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. When live games are not available, fans can watch on-demand games, outtakes from previous games and archived footage of every game dating back to 2005.
The service, which runs from April through September, allows viewers to watch every 2007 regular season out-of-market game live. A player tracker option alerts subscribers when their favorite players come to bat.
The service is both Mac and PC compatible, and is available at a monthly or yearly subscription rate. There is also a five-day trial available.
