MobiTV Announces Support for WiMAX
Mobile video distributor MobiTV of Emeryville, Calif., is preparing to deploy services via WiMAX.
The support for the new 802.16 standards has been under development at MobiTV for the past several months in partnership with other wireless players, according to company information.
WiMAX is the latest extension to MobiTV's portfolio of supported network technologies, with features designed to support all of the key components that make mobile television viable to consumers and carriers, including integration into existing infrastructures, interactivity, Unicast support, multiple device support and rapid-deployment capability.
MobiTV said it expects to continue conducting research on other emerging network standards to accommodate global markets.
