More people prefer watching football on an HDTV than attending a game, poll says
If you’re like the millions of Americans who will loosen their belts a notch Thursday after Thanksgiving dinner and settle down to watch some HD football, you’re likely to be fat and happy — at least fatter than before the meal and happier about watching the game on an HDTV than being there.
A new survey from Motorola released Nov. 14 found that 45 percent of respondents would rather watch pro and college football on an HDTV that actually attend the game. Conversely, only one in three people would rather attend a game, it found.
The nationwide survey of 1000 adults also found that by a margin of 51 percent to 41 percent, more men than women would rather watch a football game on their HDTV than attend.
Opinion Research (ORC) conducted interviews from Nov. 2-5, 2007, with 1009 consumers, 18 years of age or older, living in private households in the continental United States. Motorola commissioned the research.
