For those keeping count, last week the NAB updated its list of stations on the air with a digital signal to include 10 new television stations; bringing the total number of stations broadcasting DTV to 941.
Of the 10 new DTV stations, ABC affiliate KTVO-DT, in Kirksville, Mo. (market #198) and Fox-owned WYDC-DT, in Elmira, N.Y. (market #173), are the first in their respective markets on air in digital.
Other new DTV stations include: WNCF-DT, in Montgomery, Ala. (market #116); KVTN-DT, in Little Rock, Ark. (market #56); KSNF-DT and KODE-DT, both in Joplin, Mo. (market #145); KAMC-DT and KLBK-DT, both in Lubbock, Tex. (market #147); KDLV-DT, in Sioux Falls, S.D. (market #112); and WAGM-DT, in Presque Isle, Maine (market #205).
The NAB said DTV signals are now being transmitted in 195 markets that include 98.8 percent of U.S. TV households. In addition, 79.66 percent of the more than 106 million U.S. TV households are in markets with five or more broadcasters airing DTV and 50.81 percent are in markets with eight or more broadcasters sending digital signals.
