Motorola Ships 2000th Digital Headend

published Motorola Inc.'s Broadband Communications Sector recently marked a milestone with the shipment of its 2000th digital headend, sent to Charter Communication's Ely, Minn cable system. According to the company, Motorola is the only supplier to deliver over 2,000 digital headends, with which its digital networks pass approximately 75 million U.S. TV households.
Motorola Broadband has been supplying digital headend technology to the cable industry since 1996. Motorola formed its Broadband Communications Group when it acquired General Instrument in 1999. Last month the company shipped its 20 millionth digital set-top terminal.
