Existing HDTV viewers ranked movies as the most important type of programming to see in HD, according to a survey released this summer from Lyra Research.
The research “Desperately Seeking Content: A Survey of HDTV Users,” in Lyra Research's DTV View report series, found that both men and women ranked movies at the highest level of importance and reality show as the least important, although still ahead of commercials.
Among men, sporting events ranked a close second on the scale of HD viewing importance. Women ranked dramatic TV series marginally higher than sports.
The survey polled 500 existing HDTV viewers in May and June.
