MTV selects Pinnacle Systems for networked media workflow strategy
Viacom's MTV Networks Europe has deployed new networked editing systems by Pinnacle Systems within their new, shared workflow operations in Benelux. The purchase is part of an extensive program by MTV to build a fully networked broadcast environment for their MTV, TMF and Nickelodeon TV channel groups within the region.
Pinnacle's Liquid blue editing system is installed at MTV Europe. blue offers full end-to-end native digital production in multiple formats.
The site in Bussum, North Holland, has been equipped with a storage area network (SAN) that offers greater reliability and advanced shared media capabilities. Pinnacle Liquid series editors will be integrated into the SAN.
The integration of the Pinnacle edit systems with the SAN allows video material to be accessed across MTV Europe's broadcast workflow, from ingest, to editing, to playout. Liquid's file management is network-aware, allowing seamless integration of systems.
The key goal behind the MTV Europe strategy was to create a tapeless work environment, the network said. The advantages of IT networking are felt across the entire workflow because the core Pinnacle Liquid editing application was designed to include a unified workspace for multi-layer editing, effects, and compositing.
Included in the sale is Liquid blue, Pinnacle's networked craft editor. It offers full end-to-end native digital production in multiple formats. MTV also purchased Liquid chrome workstations for post-production, and Liquid Edition for DV editing.
