Multiconn's new mobile TV in-car receiver increases coverage and quality with DiBcom’s diversity-4 MRC receiver

Multiconn’s ready-to-install in-car digital TV receiver raises the bar for reliable and consistent digital picture quality in cars traveling at high speeds. The key is DiBcom's in-car digital TV receiver with the company's new diversity-4 MRC technology. Using individual antennas attached to four opposite car windows, DiBcom's DIB7070-M chips integrate a VHF-UHF tuner as well as a DVB-T/H demodulator.

The highly integrated DiBcom chips enabled the creation of a compact device, which uses two additional DIB7070-M chips for automatic background scanning. Multiconn’s Diversity Auto Scan technology automatically locates and maintains the strongest TV signal found in the area to deliver the best possible reception.

Multiconn also has incorporated a smart user interface in the new receiver. Rather than forcing people to scan manually for new programs as they travel, the list of available TV programs automatically updates in real time throughout the trip.

"In countries such as Spain, Italy, France and Sweden, the use of DVB-T modulation modes in 64QAM impair reception in the mobile environment," said Pascal Prost, DiBcom director of product marketing. "Implementations and field tests have shown that using 'diversity-4' (four antennas) in these countries drastically increases the reliability of digital TV reception, enabling comfortable in-car use."
