NAB finalizes events for 2009 convention
In advance of the 2009 NAB Show in Las Vegas next week, the NAB Show and D.I.S. Consulting have released a compilation of 15 research reports focused on the digital media space. The first of what is to be an annual industry study report, the “Broadcasting, Audio and Video Global Trends Report” is a notable NAB initiative designed to provide relevant research data to the broadcast and digital media industries.
The reports included in the publication cover a wide range of topics including radio realignment, Chinese broadcasting and product categories including encoders, storage and automation systems, among others. Douglas I. Sheer, CEO and chief analyst for D.I.S. Consulting, authored the compilation. NAB members and exhibitors may obtain a copy of the report at no cost. It will also be available for discounted sale at the convention’s NAB Store.
Education events, awards and keynote speeches are another mainstay of the NAB Show and will be in ample supply. Among the high-profile attendees will be actor Kelsey Grammer, to be awarded the first NAB Television Chairman’s Award; actor Mary Tyler Moore, who will be honored with the NAB Distinguished Service Award; and actor/comedian Bob Newhart, who will be inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
Adobe Systems CEO Shantanu Narayer and Disney Interactive Media Group CTO Bud Albers will team up to prevent a Super Session during the show. Another Super Session, titled “Creating a New Media Landscape,” will be presented by Josh Schwartz, creator of TV series “Chuck,” “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl.”
Education opportunities run the gamut of broadcast activities, delineated across the NAB’s theme of “Where Content Comes Alive.” Thus, content creation, content management, commerce, distribution/delivery and consumption are all addressed through targeted events including speeches, information sessions and conferences.
