The 2006 NAB Post+Production event, which takes place Oct. 24-26, has a new name: "NAB New York." The second annual event being held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City will feature the latest technology and leading editing professionals in both the production and post-production business.

NAB said they are rebranding the show because both the shorthand (Post+) and full version of the show's name (Post+Production Show) did not clearly communicate the scope of the event. The shorthand name, in particular, gave the impression that the show was geared solely to the post-production market.

NAB New York will cover HD, news, sports, entertainment and communication in the television, film, video, Internet, advertising, corporate, education and government markets.

NAB said at the rate technologies and content change it feels there is enough of a need for more than one high-end electronic media event a year. It also said having an event in the Northeast allows NAB to reach a key geographic region.

NAB New York also has a new tagline: "Content Creation+." NAB said the new tagline covers the full range of the content creation process including pre-production, acquisition and capture, post-production and content management. The "+" refers to the show's focus on the leading edge - the next generation of content and content creation technologies.

The inaugural show featured 94 exhibitors in 35,000 square feet of exhibit space and had 5,400 registered attendees. It featured dozens of cutting-edge conference sessions produced by NAB's partner, Future Media Concepts.

Exhibitors last year included Avid, Apple, Autodesk, B&H, Canopus, Da Vinci, Ikegami, Leitch, Maxell and Sony Media Software.
