NAB Show: New HD Production Studio Wires Up Vegas
One of the exhibits to be seen tooling up and down The Strip and around the LVCC this month at the NAB Show will remain behind when everyone else leaves Las Vegas for home. A new production house, VegasHD, said it’s in the midst of creating a fully equipped mobile HD facility that will boast several permanent picturesque location sites throughout the city for commercial shoots by broadcasters and others.
VegasHD will operate with its own digital fiber network, which it says is the first permanent hookup of its kind in Las Vegas (DMA no. 43). It has secured long-term agreements to build broadcast production venues offering “plug and play” fiber capabilities in multiple Las Vegas locations. The first interior-exterior site is at the new Trader Vic’s at the Planet Hollywood Resort Casino (across the street from the Bellagio fountains), which includes a large elevated patio facing The Strip.
Other VegasHD permanent shoot locations will be announced at NAB, April 14-17. One of the new production house’s co-founders is TV personality Robin Leach.
