NAB Touts Amber Successes
NAB said two more kidnapped children were recovered recently as a result of successful Amber Alerts.
An association spokesman described the success of the Amber Alerts in a press release sent to reporters "who cover the broadcast industry and the FCC's inquiry into broadcast localism."
The recent instances involved a 3-year-old boy in Wichita, Kan., and a 14-year-old girl in Alton, Ill. In the first case, a citizen recognized the vehicle from the Amber Alert and called 911. In the second, the suspect heard the alert and let the girl free.
NAB said 174 children have been recovered as a result of Amber, citing figures from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
