NAB2007: Gefen Connects With Wireless UWB HDMI
Gefen came to NAB2007 this week to talk up its new method of extending the capabilities of coax cable for high-def video and multichannel digital audio delivered via HDMI connectors (Booth SL2305).
The firm's new plug-and-play HDMI-over-coax cable scheme allows any A/V source with HDMI connectors to be extended up to 300 feet from the display or projector using a single coax cable, according to Gefen.
Also, the company is demonstrating its Wireless for HDMI extension that delivers HD content using ultra wideband wireless technology for such configurations as in-room connections of HD video sources to HD monitors.
Both schemes tap into Tzero Technologies' UWB technology and JPEG2000 video processing from Analog Devices. Gefen extenders can process HD up to 1080p. The extension systems operate via small transmitter and receiver units.
