National Geographic Channel Taps DNF Controls for Automated Playout Control
The National Geographic Channel is using technology from DNF Controls to control and automate playout for the channel's nightly National Geographic Today program.
DNF Controls' 400-clip access system with a peripheral bus interface option will serve as a production switcher interface allowing a GVG4000 production switcher already in use to load and play clips on a new GVG Profile server. The 4000CL will control four servers to provide complete automation of clip insertion ¾ including cue, roll and re-cue functions ¾ for playout of effects, banners, and other animations.
The 4000CL-N-PBIO 400-clip fast access system consists of DNF's ST300 slow-motion controller with clip software. The peripheral bus interface option (PBIO) software allows the ST300 to support up to four peripheral device addresses ¾ one for each server the ST300 controls. The ST300 relies on the learn and recall functions of the production switcher to load and play video clips from a recall or timeline.
