National TeleConsultants opens new tech lab

Systems integrator National TeleConsultants (NTC) has moved into larger offices in Glendale CA, and established an Office of Technology division there to keep up with significant growth on both coasts and the implementation of new IT-based technologies; which its clients are requesting at a steadily increasing rate. NTC specializes in strategic technology consulting, media-related facility design and engineering, and systems integration.

The company has been busy with a number of major projects, both for HD content distribution and television production, according to Chuck Phelan, managing partner of NTC. He said the new Technology Center, which is headed up by NTC’s Eric Pohl as chief technology officer — will provide a testing lab for combining new types of video-centric, IT systems and ensuring that they work seamlessly together.

Under Pohl’s guidance, the company's Office of Technology will operate from both NTC’s new location in Glendale, CA, and its New York City location in Manhattan. Pohl will also split his time working with NBC Universal to design new production and transmission infrastructures for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games next August.

NTC managing partners Eliot Graham and Peter Adamiak, principal consultant Rich Hill, and others will also support the new Office of Technology initiative to help identify, troubleshoot and articulate cost-effective technologies for its clients.

Recognizing the broadcast industry’s move to computer-friendly systems, the company also maintains a Software Solutions Group, led by vice president John Footen, who has been advocating the concept of Service-oriented Architectures, business process management, and Web services. In addition, David Potter will lead NTC’s software systems engineering effort as director of software systems engineering.
