NBA takes delivery of NVISION router
NV8256-Plus Expandable Large-Format Digital Video Router is based on a high-density 256x256 crosspoint module that can easily grow to 512x512 I/O without DAs or secondary switching.
The National Basketball Association’s main production center facility in New Jersey, has installed a large-capacity routing system from NVISION that includes an NV8256-Plus digital video router, an NV7256-Plus digital audio router, an NV5128 multiformat router and an NV9000 router control system.
Additional equipment includes a number of Sony standard- and high-definition cameras, monitoring equipment, as well as a Sony MVS-8000 4 M/E multiformat video switcher equipped with three channels of internal MVE800 DVE and three channels of external MVE9000 DVE. NVISION worked closely with Sony to develop, in conjunction with Divide Research, a customized switcher/router interface protocol.
The NV8256-Plus frame features the ability to add an additional crosspoint module to serve as a hot standby, said Jay Kuca, NVISION's director of marketing. “This patented feature effectively eliminates the crosspoint module as a single point of failure in the system,” he said, adding that input and output block size is 16."
Input and output modules are available for SDI, HD-SDI, and analog video, and the router will accept any mixture of these formats.
Ideal for medium- to large-sized broadcast and post production facilities, the NV8256-Plus Expandable Large-Format Digital Video Router is based on a high-density 256x256 crosspoint module that can easily grow to 512x512 I/O without DAs or secondary switching. In its base configuration, the NV8256-Plus is equipped with one crosspoint module. When the unit is expanded beyond 256x256, a second module is added, increasing the size of the crosspoint array to 512x256. If a second 512x256 frame is added, and the two frames interconnected, the resulting system is 512x512.
