NBC Locks in Ku-Band Transponders with SES Americom

published SES Americom announced a contract with NBC to supply the network with multiple Ku-band transponders on the AMC-1 satellite. NBC will use the transponders to distribute a wide range of network programming to its more than 200 O&O and affiliated stations.
Also included in this agreement is transponder space on SES Americom's AMC-9 satellite to be used by NBC News. NBC began its relationship with SES Americom in the mid-1980s and this new agreement will run for several years. Other customers of SES Americom include ABC Radio, Discovery, EchoStar, Gannett, HBO and various agencies of the U.S. government.
