NBC Olympics and AT&T Wireless transmit wireless Olympic data
NBC Olympics and AT&T Wireless are offering customers an extensive collection of Olympic Games content via their mobile cell phones and pagers. The wireless program includes on-air text message polling, video highlights, mobile access to television listings and results, alerts, trivia, and promotional sweepstakes.
Prior to the Games, several elements from the NBC's and AT&T's Olympics wireless program were available, including highlights from NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, promotional clips, weekly Olympic trivia, and a sweepstakes offering the chance to win $25,000 in gold. The features and content of the program will expand throughout the duration of the Games.
Among the features is content from NBCOlympics.com. Subscribers can get text message alerts sent out up to three times daily while the games are underway.
In addition to its program with NBC, and in response to the growing demand for its wireless data services, AT&T Wireless has introduced two Olympic-themed bundled service offerings which combine some of the company's data services along with voice calling minutes.
