NBC Universal signs deal with DIRECTV

The NBC Universal cable division has signed a broad carriage deal with DIRECTV, its first such agreement since the company’s merger in May.

The multiyear agreement covers USA Network and Sci-Fi Channel; digital retransmission consent for the NBC owned-and-operated stations; rights to distribute NBC’s high-definition programming for the 2004 Olympics; Bravo HD+; and pay-per-view rights to first-run Universal movie titles and NBC Universal specials and events, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Existing deals for Bravo, Telemundo and Mun2 were also renewed. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
