NCTA National Show Focuses on HDTV
The National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) will have an "HD Pavilion" as the centerpiece of the exhibit floor at its 2003 National Show. The 8,000 square foot display will cover HD content, technology, gaming and business. In addition to displaying a variety of HD equipment, the National Show will offer tutorials on point of deployment (POD) enabled sets and differences between standard definition TV and HDTV. It will also have displays showing the various digital formats, connectors that come standardized in cable-ready devices and the components of 5C copy protection.
PBS and NBC will join numerous cable services showing programming services in the HD Pavilion.
According to NCTA, as of March 1, 73 of the top 100 designated market areas (DMAs), including 17 of the top 20 markets, were served by at least one cable company offering high-definition programming. It also said that in more than of half of those markets, over-the-air television signals were part of the HD cable offering.
