NEP Switches with Sony
Pittsburgh-based NEP is using a Sony DVS-9000 digital production switcher, which can create SD content and upgrade for HD, for its 53-foot "expando" Columbia OB Mobile Production Truck from Action Sports Cable Network.
Columbia has a Sony MVS-8000 switcher and the addition of the DVS lets users create SD or HD content and simulcast both signals. NEP says it selected the Sony switcher based on integration of the production and routing switcher, user interfaces and product feature sets, including up to four mix effects, 80 digital video inputs, 56 outputs and eight digital effects channels with video and key.
San Jose, Calif.-based Professional Services Group of Sony Electronics' Business Systems and Solutions Company designed the truck, which is made for 1080 24p/60i production and includes 12 Sony HDC-900/950 studio cameras, nine HDCAM videotape recorders, an Oxford digital audio mixing console and a large 264x272 Sony 5800 series multi-format routing switcher.
