NEP taps Canon HD lenses for ESPN's
All of Canon's long lenses are equipped with the company's built-in optical image stabilizer technology.
Disney's production companies, through its ABC Sports and ESPN divisions, have begun to make the necessary investment in HD equipment.
As the latest example, veteran mobile production company NEP Supershooters has outfitted its new Supershooter 20HD truck with Grass Valley WorldCam multiformat digital cameras and HD lenses from Canon U.S.A., including the new DIGISUPER 100xs lens for intense close-ups and extended long shots.
"We are especially excited about adding the 100X to our roster," said George Hoover, senior vice president, operations and engineering, NEP Supershooters. "With its extremely low light loss when zooming in tight, we'll be able to see eyeball to eyeball--even at 10 p.m. in the corner of the end zone."
The Canon DIGISUPER 100xs will be used in tandem with Grass Valley WorldCam cameras, that can capture images in both SD and HD formats (720p and 1080i) and several other Canon HD models, including the DIGISUPER XJ75xs and 86xs.
All of Canon's long lenses are equipped with the company's built-in optical image stabilizer technology, or Shift-IS system, that allows producers and directors to capture dramatic, high-impact long shots with little or no vibration that results from wind, platform vibrations and even the camera operator's breathing. The stabilizing technology is available on Canon's HD portable HJ40x10B and HJ40x14B lenses, as well as on the new 100xs and XJ75xs zoom lenses.
