New El Mundo TV center in Spain installs EVS technology
EVS technology has been chosen for a major new production center, El Mundo TV, in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid, Spain).
El Mundo TV, created in 1997, is owned by Unidad Editorial, a conglomerate that includes 42 companies in the press, radio, television, Internet and telecommunications. Unidad Editorial is owner of VEO TV, assignee of a license for open terrestrial digital television.
In July 2007, Unidad Editorial allocated to Unitecnic (a subsidiary company of Mediapro) to design and build three new production studios — including the new El Mundo TV production center in Torrejon de Ardoz.
EVS provided El Mundo TV with a six-channel XT[2] production server controlled by IP Director software for production and playout in the studio. The server is used to introduce content instantly and for playout of various pieces of the different programming platforms, including news, entertainment programs and sports. The XT[2] is integrated with various systems in the existing infrastructure, including Snell & Wilcox Kahuna switchers and an Avid Unity MediaNetwork 5.0 shared storage system.
El Mundo TV also installed the EVS XStore[2] for content storage, which also will be used as a the main gateway between the XT[2] server, the production stations, and Avid post-production stations for news.
