New FCC ULS Online Filings Interface Debuts
On Sunday the FCC unveiled the new online filing interface to its Universal Licensing System. The first thing users of the new interface will notice is that it does not require downloading Java software and is compatible with a wider range of Web browser software. As pointed out in the Dec. 1 RF Report, the new ULS License Manager functions for Form 601 -- the one used for broadcast auxiliary applications -- are limited to the following applications purposes:
* Renewal Only
* Cancel
* Withdrawal
* Duplicate
* Administrative Update
The main portion of Form 605, the Quick-Form application for authorization in the Ship, Aircraft, Amateur, Restricted and Commercial Operator, and General Mobile Radio Services, can be completely filled out using the new License Manager.
In every case, the License Manager is used for logging on and seamlessly transfers to the existing, older software when needed. The new logon screen requires use of the FCC Registration Number (FRN) and a password. Use of the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is no longer supported.
More information on the new ULS License Manager is available in the FCC news release New ULS Online Filing Interface to be Deployed Sunday. Also see the FCC Universal Licensing System Web page for information on how to use the system.
