New Fox Channel Taps Wegener Equipment
The Big Ten Network has selected satellite receive equipment provider Wegener Corp. to make available programming of the Big Ten Network to BTN’s affiliates. Headquartered in Chicago, the Big Ten Network is a new national cable and satellite programming service that covers both the athletic and academic content of the Big Ten Conference.
The network will be available to all North American cable and satellite carriers and television distributors, with most programs offered in HD. The network is scheduled to launch in August.
Wegener’s linear video distribution solution includes the Unity 4600 satellite receivers, COMPEL network control system and COMPEL encryption. COMPEL Control will provide the Big Ten Network with the ability to support multiple live sporting events, regionalize commercial insertions and remotely retune Wegener receivers.
“We are excited to continue to support Fox Cable Networks through the Big Ten Network launch,” said Ned L. Mountain, president and chief operating officer of Wegener. “Our field proven solution for linear HD programming will ensure a smooth North American launch.”
