New HD truck meets demand for small productions
Arctek Satellite Productions, a Minneapolis-based mobile production company serving the Midwest, has built a series of three new satellite uplink trucks to satisfy demand for smaller-sized, affordable remote HD transmission for live sports and entertainment. The trucks may be small is size, but they are capable of handling most types of SD and HD transmission, including HD encoding and HD signal monitoring.
The company worked with Frontline Communications to build the small yet highly sophisticated HD trucks. The truck is a C-band Sprinter, and, according to Shawn Erickson, a representative with the company, it's the only one of its type currently on the market.
The new C-band Sprinter will be on display at NAB2007 in the Frontline booth (C8417) inside the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Erickson said the truck was different because it used all-digital technology, and because the dish had side pods that came off for transport. In addition, outbound jacks are being used to stabilize the vehicle.
