New LDK 4000 offers signal processing improvements

Aimed at broadcasters and facilities that operate in fixed 1080i or 720p environments, the new mark II version of the Grass Valley LDK 4000 camera from Thomson now includes new 14b analog-to-digital conversion and other signal processing improvements derived from the new LDK 8000 multiformat camera.

Since its launch in April 2005, the original LDK 4000 relied on 12b conversion used with HD Dynamic Pixel Management (DPM) image sensor technology to produce a single HD format.

The LDK 4000 mk II is available either as a 1080i camera or as a 720p camera. In both configurations, it is switchable between 50Hz and 59.94Hz. A service pack allows a field service engineer to change the fixed format from 1080i to 720p or vice versa.

Delivery of the new camera is expected in the first quarter of 2007.
