New Lyon Video HD mobile unit makes industry debut at NAB2005
Lyon Video’s new 53ft expando MU-6 was designed to meet a variety of HD teleproduction requirements.
Lyon Video, a mobile production company in Columbus, OH, showed its new high-definition Mobile Unit 6HD (MU-6) multiformat expando unit, with a full complement of Grass Valley multiformat production equipment last month at NAB2005 in Las Vegas.
The new 53ft truck includes 11 Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam HD cameras; a Kalypso HD video production center; an LDK 6200 HD Super SloMo camera; an Ethernet-based LDK C2IP camera control panel; a Trinix video routing switcher, and a Concerto Series stereo audio router.
Lyon Video’s MU-6 officially hit the road in December 2004 and has been used to cover several college basketball and hockey games in HD for ABC Sports, ESPN HD, and FOX Sports.
The truck has also helped televise several professional sporting events, such as the NBA's Detroit Pistons for Palace Entertainment and FOX Sports Net.
With a highly flexible virtual monitor wall made up of eight HD plasma screens, totaling 35ft long, and an all-digital core, the MU-6 was designed around the Grass Valley Kalypso HD switcher to produce both live sports and entertainment events. It includes a self-contained audio, graphics and post-production area on board that does not require a B-Unit and can handle SD and HD productions, as well as analog signals.
