NFL Network expands studios in off-season
During the NFL’s off-season this year, Russ Berger Design Group (RBDG) coordinated an expansion of the NFL Network’s Culver City, CA, broadcast/production facility so this season’s coverage could originate from a new studio, along with new control, editing and equipment spaces to support the entire operation.
The facility expansion included a second 10,000sq ft soundstage where much of the network’s programming is created, and 25,000sq ft of production support space. The new space includes two video control rooms, two audio control rooms, a voice booth, a shading control room, nine edit suites and a graphics and central equipment room. In addition, the entire facility’s networking and storage systems were re-worked to be ready for HD transmission.
The project is RBDG’s fourth for the league. In 2003, the group completed work on NFL Films’ world headquarters in Mt. Laurel, NJ, a 200,000sq ft production complex that is a key supplier of programming for the NFL Network.
