NFL Network installs massive Riedel intercom system
Riedel, a manufacturer of professional intercom systems, announced that the NFL Network has upgraded its facilities with a second studio, 10 edit bays and the largest Riedel communication installation in the United States.
The NFL Network installation consists of three Artist 128-port mainframes and nearly 100 control panels. The platform consists of a fiber-based backbone providing a decentralized network infrastructure for production intercom and analog and digital audio distribution.
Riedel’s Artist provides matrix sizes from 8 x 8 up to 1024 x 1024 ports. Multiple matrix frames (nodes) are interconnected by a dual optical fiber ring to form a single large, full summing, non-blocking distributed matrix. The maximum distance between two nodes can be up to 1650ft as standard and optionally up to 12mi.
The system is fully redundant and has online, real-time system monitoring. Multiple computer control capability is available via Riedel’s Director Configuration software.
NFL Network launched on Nov. 4, 2003, in 11.5 million homes. It runs 24/7 and reaches more than 41 million subscribers with 1500 hours of original programming.
